Grande
Reserve Elementary School opened in the fall of 2006. We are
presently beginning our fifth year. GRES
is a K-6 grade school that also houses a Special Education
Program, Life Skills 1-4, from Kendall County Special Education.
This model
may be "old hat" to many of you raised in the last
half of the twentieth century, but it is a move towards neighborhood
schools and away from transitioning to grade leveled centers.
This model was suggested by our Citizen's Advisory Committee
comprised of community members, parents, educators, and other
school personnel. The CAC, teachers, students, and parents
worked together to prepare Grande Reserve for its
students.
MISSION
STATEMENT
Grande Reserve
Elementary School provides an experience-centered, challenging,
and well-rounded education for a diverse community. Recognizing
that students have a variety of needs at each developmental
stage and learn in different ways, GRES is committed to helping
each student reach their full potential: cultivate a passion
for excellence in academics, the arts, and athletics, celebrate
our cultural differences and our common humanity, achieve
a sense of emotional and physical well-being, learn to think
critically and creatively, develop a life-long love of learning,
provide a positive classroom environment that fosters student
learning.
