Students are to work in pairs to plan a field trip for the entire eighth grade class. The plan must be practical and fit the needs of the eighth grade curriculum. If they encounter questions that cannot be answered with the available resources, they will have to determine where to proceed in order to continue and finalize their plan.
This lesson is designed for eighth grade and involves mathematics and language arts, but can easily be extended to additional grades and subjects.
This webquest addresses the following State
of Illinois Learning Standards:
Students will begin by using the Internet to research possible locations
for a field trip. They will conduct a survey of their classmates to select the
location, graph the results of the survey, draw a scaled map of the route,
arrange transportation,
graph the breakdown of incurred expenses, compose a narrative of their
plan and present it to the class. The project should take approximately
two weeks to complete.
Access to a computer with Internet connection. See
All Aboard
student page for a list of available online resources.
Optional resources include computer spreadsheet and/or word processing program.
